QUICK ANSWERS

Have Questions?

What should I know about attending a meeting?

We all arrive between 10:30 and 11:00, people will filter in. Most of our members have busy families and kids sports activities and we therefore have a rather large window of arrival times.

The meeting will break up between 1:30 – 2:00 and members will filter out. Remember to return your name tag to an officer so that we can make you a formal tag for your next meeting.

How can I let the officers know this is my first meeting?

Make your way to the member who is setting up or greeting members. She will help you get a temporary nametag. This member will also give your name to the officer running the meeting so that they can introduce you.

How do I introduce myself?

A great way to introduce yourself and your “style” is to bring 1-2 items for our show-and-tell.  These can be any items that you want to highlight about yourself.

We are equal opportunity crafters and love to see any items that you want to share. Many of our members knit, crochet, hand sew, and cross stitch. All of these are welcome.

How can I get to know the members?

We recommend that you start 1:1 or slip into a smaller group and simply ask, “What are you working on?”.  That one question is the magic key to open everyone up and get them all talking. We love to show pictures, trade IG handles, and ooh and aah over your projects as well.

What should I bring to my first meeting?

For your first meeting we recommend bringing hand work. You are always welcome to bring a machine and sew, but for your first meeting, we would recommend something that would allow you to talk and get to know members. Cross stitch, binding, EPP, crochet, or something similar are always a great place to start.

Make sure to bring 1-2 things that you have made for show-and-tell.

What should I bring to my first meeting?

Just click the red “join now” button at the top of the page! Fill out the information and pay via PayPal. You can also pay in person and give us your information at the next meeting.

What is the cost to join?

The cost to join is $50 – this includes membership to the MCMQG as well as the national Modern Quilt Guild.

Due to changes at the national level, we are no longer able to offer partial year dues.

Why do I pay dues?

While our meetings are free to the public through the library, dues are used to pay for members’ MQG for affiliated membership, as well as our admin costs such as web hosting and Zoom.

We also use member dues to fund  activities throughout the year – such as offsite day retreats – as well as materials for any charity projects that are completed by the guild.

Where can I find the most up-to-date meeting info?

We recommend checking the guild Instagram for the most up to date information regarding meetings.
